Ferguson-Florissant School District – Rebranding
The rebranding of the Ferguson-Florissant School District encompassed all marketing collateral, digital and print. The horse shoe symbol of the logo is a decades old combination of a much earlier district logo emblem, specifically the wagon wheel and airplane crest from the 1930’s. This ties in the rich history of the Ferguson-Florissant area to the growth and development of modern aviation. I was asked to keep the emblem with the redesign, so I set out to give the logo a much more modern and sophisticated feel using only typography.
Ferguson-Florissant School District – Color Swatches
The existing logo color was a teal hue, but there weren’t pantone color standards given to the logo before. When choosing spot colors, I took into account neighboring school district colors, existing colors of all individual district schools and the necessity that the logo would be printed in house. The in-district print shop had limited color choice options available. It was also very important that other employees who don’t have access to design programs would be able to match the final colors easily when making their department’s communications and print collateral. The Superintendent and Board of Education gave the final seal of approval on Reflex Blue and Cool Gray 11c.
